About Us

Local Planet was started by people like you who realize that we’re not on this planet alone. Everything we do can affect the people and environment around us. Yes, we all have our selfish moments and yes, sometimes the problems of this world seem so daunting that we feel as if there’s nothing we can do to change much of anything.

That’s why we started Local Planet.

As an individual consumer our impact might be small but acting together we are a force to be reckoned with. Each of us in our daily lives can make small decisions, like who we do business with, that cumulatively can have an enormous positive effect. After all, consumer spending accounts for over 70% of our nation's gross domestic product. If we could capture and harness just a small share of that spending and direct it towards businesses that are doing the right thing then this would encourage other businesses to follow suit.

We realized that if we just took stock of our values, and then made a conscious effort to support those businesses that share our commitment to a healthy planet and society we could affect the change we seek with minimal effort.
